Female Development Team to play on AAMI Park

Storm’s Female Development Squad will take part in a triple-header at AAMI Park this Sunday afternoon.

The squad will face off against the North Sydney Bears in a one-off clash on Sunday 11 May, following the conclusion of the NRL match between the Melbourne Storm and the Wests Tigers.

This game marks a truly historic moment for the Club, as it will be the first time the Storm Female Development Program plays at AAMI Park.

“They are excited to be able to finally put on the purple jersey play in front of their friends and families at AAMI Park,” said Storm Female Pathways Manager, Pauline Poloai.

“This has been a massive milestone for these girls."

The new Storm Female Development Program has not only provided women and girls in Victoria with a clear pathway for the very first time. The program has focused not just on football, but also off-field development, said Poloai.

“Our girls have also had the opportunity to learn off the field where they got to learn referee skills via our Victorian Referees Association, as well as career opportunities and personal development.”

The Storm Female Development Program is already seeing success, with their first-ever matches in Sydney resulting in historic wins, followed by further opportunities to showcase their talent at Casey Fields and in Albury earlier this year.

These matches play a crucial role in advancing the local female pathways program, in helping to prepare the players for entry into U17 and U19 competitions for the 2026 season.

Sunday presents another opportunity for Storm's Female Development program to showcase its talent on the big stage while also helping Storm develop coaches and referees through the support of the Australian Government’s Play Our Way initiative.

Be sure to stick around after Sunday’s NRL conclusion to witness history in the making and catch a glimpse of some future stars of the women's game.

Kick off will be at 4:00pm.
