APRIL Volunteers of the Month!

With local footy making its return for 2024, we have been overwhelmed by the endless number of dedicated volunteers contributing across our clubs. From coaching to ground managing to canteen operating, the drive and commitment from every volunteer is what has kept the spirit of our game alive.

April has been an exciting month with both Seniors and Juniors kicking off and none of it would have been possible without the on-going perseverance and efforts of our volunteers.

We saw countless nominations come in for April’s Volunteers of the Month award.

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate volunteers for their hard work and dedication. And of course, a huge shoutout to all the volunteers who selflessly contribute their time and effort to make local footy possible.

Aimee Dodd – Stepping up as club secretary at the Geelong sharks, Aimee is always handling club needs with a big smile on her face. Aimee works continuously not only within club duties as the secretary but as a parent, organiser and volunteer constantly going above and beyond, making her a much-loved member of the Geelong Sharks.

“It is because of Aimee’s enthusiasm, kindness, spirit and organisation that new families are coming into our club, and we are so excited for what the season will bring!”

Deanna Box – Not only is Deanna a sports trainer to most grades at the Pakenham Eels Rugby League Club, but she is also the merchandise manager and helps in the canteen on training nights in between strappings. Deanna is always hands on at the club and is described as a true asset and a prime example of how important volunteers are.

Deborah Fili – Described as an all-rounder, Deborah manages to juggle co-organising uniform kits, club registrations, social media, coaching and more. Starting up Regionals newest club Shepparton Eagles with only a few members shows her passion for the game, the club, and its community.

“Her resilience in ensuring the club is well looked after is top notch.”

Lara Merritt – A dedicated and passionate member of the Werribee Bears Club, Lara has been heavily involved in catering to club needs. Whether it be helping club executives or managing First Grade Men’s, Lara shows up to fulfill her duties at the club wholeheartedly.

Wayne Long – Always lending a helping hand, Wayne’s contribution to the Waverley Panthers Club has been a huge help on game days. Wayne is also known as a powerhouse that is always willing to promote the club and rugby league at local schools and community events.

“Wayne you’re the man!! Keep up the awesome work!”
